Like most professionals in the petroleum sector, I’ve weathered a lot of boom and bust cycles.

After being laid off in 2009 from an EPCM company in Calgary, I set up my own drafting and design shop -literally in my basement. At one point there were 6 designers coming into my home while my young family lived upstairs.

In the early 2010s, INTI worked on global projects for an engineering company out of Dubai.

The first project was a 60k bbl/day Early Production Facility in Northern Iraq.

Then we took on large FEED Production Facilities in Southern Iraq. Due to the security issues at that time, we were trained by EX-SAS British Oﬃcers on how to design for the defence of our facilities. That project was one of the highlights of my career.

INTI Designs has completed more than 250 projects over the last decade. We thrive on handling complex projects - like designing an Amine Plant that was fabricated in Alberta, placed into shipping containers, and transported to Iraq for final assembly.

Today, we primarily serve North American markets from our downtown Calgary offices.

Alan Meng

Senior Piping Designer / Program Administrator

Alan has 25 years of experience in the petroleum industry. Educated & trained as a Process Engineer in China, Alan made the change to Piping Designer when he moved to Calgary. Alan has been with INTI from the start and can handle anything given to him. Don’t believe it, try him out and see!

Blair Bacon

Senior Piping Designer

Blair has 20 years of experience in the petroleum industry. Blair studied EDDT at NAIT. He was a summer student at Presson Manufacturing where he met Cary. Blair has been with INTI from the start and loves a good challenge. Do you have a challenging project?

We’re not an engineering firm. We are a design firm.

We’re very good at taking bits and pieces of info and designing a constructible product.

Our design philosophy is grounded in creating designs and drawings that are safe, constructible, easy to maintain and operable.

And we play hard, too. When I’m not at my desk in downtown Calgary, you’ll find me ripping around the backcountry in our Land Cruiser & oﬀ-road trailer I designed with an RV builder.

I’m a dad to two cool teenagers and husband to my beautiful, artist wife. Together, we’re designing and living the best life we can.

INTI Designs takes its name from Inti, the Incan Sun God, an homage to Bolivia and South America, where my wife is from and where we’ve both travelled extensively.
